MidBritons and the Big Freeze

Read what MidBritons have to say on the recent extreme weather.

The majority of MidBritons found the snow more of an annoyance than fun!

  • Those having fun are more likely to be women and under 45’s.
  • 35% went to work as normal and 1 in 10 took advantage of having a family day.
  • 15% had a snowball fight and 1 in 10 built a snowman.
  • Out of our sample of 1174, 21 people suffered an injury and 12 people had a car accident.
  • 6% helped out a neighbour.

The country was clearly unprepared for the effects of the severe weather.

  •  Two thirds of MidBritons blame local councils and authorities.
  • The Highway Agency was blamed by 1 in 4.Train/bus companies and the government was blamed by 1 in 3.
  • 30% said no-one was to blame, it was a rare occurrence.

Their opinion is mixed on whether the country should invest in better equipment and resources to deal with these extreme weather conditions.

  • Although consensus is that MidBritons think the snow should have been handled better.
  • However, MidBritons don’t think they should pay extra to make any improvements.

Showing true British spirit, 98% coped with the adverse weather conditions.
