MidBritons are a consciencious bunch when it comes to Christmas and Christmas shopping. When they're not busy planning or shopping, they get up to all the other things that this festive season brings, including drinking too much, kissing a collegue at an office party or struggling to find something interesting to watch on TV! When it comes to buying Christmas presents, MidBritons are a conscientious bunch
- 24% think about what they’re going to buy their loved ones all year round
- 40% make up their minds in October and November
- But, although they know what they want, in November, over a third of MidBritons still hadn’t bought any Christmas presents, only 4% had done all their shopping, and 28% had up to 10 presents to still buy!
They use a variety of sources to shop!
- 77% of shoppers bought their gifts online last year
- 53% visited the supermarket
- 80% used a department store
- 83% hit the high street
They are admirably generous with their gifts
- 62% spend at least £1000 on gifts if not more
- 75% are planning to either spend more on their gifts this year in comparison to last year and over half are expecting to spend the same
Christmas is a family affair
- 89% have Christmas dinner with their family
- 84% visit or phone their relatives or friends
- 46% play board games
Strong opportunity to inspire a more enjoyable Christmas day
- 70% agree that there are far too many repeats on at Christmas
- 48% say that it is hard to find something interesting to watch on TV over Christmas
The festive period brings joy, cheer and mishaps!
- 20% kissed a collegue at an office Christmas party
- 68% received a rubbish present
- 48% drank too much
And after all that, they're still up for shopping in the January sales
- 58% of MidBritons admit being enticed by the January sales
